Sclater Street...

Urban London bollards/art...
Welcome back to East London and some rather plain damaged square ended rectangular shaped bollards (parking posts, a bollard is a short post). In the back drop you 'might' have noticed the urban street art complete with CCTV camera.

I came across these bollards the other week after having met up with @PeepingTallulah on the twitter to discuss some ideas about a couple of websites I need constructing.

The #guestbollard feature (bottom) is by a regular but I need to check with them first just to make sure. So I'll update this page later. I do though love the use by a Cafe of the bollard with a clear simple local message about the Cafe 'OPEN'...

Par Beach, Cornwall...

Par beach bollards...

I had to pop back home to mind my wire hair fox terrier 'Rob' the rescue recently and the other day we popped over to Par beach Cornwall (dog friendly) and look what I found in the car park !

Yes these rather wonderful short wooden cylindrical bollards complete with cutaway band and a lovely 45 degree edge to the top of the previous flat top. Wooden bollards do not weather that well and if you take a look at the bollard (above) you'll notice it is already splitting down the side, sometimes metal or concrete do a better job for longer with little or no maintenance.

Holborn Viaduct EC4...

Through the wire...

Welcome to Holborn Viaduct and once again the City of London where the highway engineers from the city have been very busy strengthening renovating the viaduct.

What is a new addition to the viaduct is the line of anti-ram bollards. These bollards will not be ornate and certainly don't mark a boundary, they'll be sleeved (a cover placed over them) but be under no illusion they are here to stop a serious accident or even an act of terror.

The picture (above) was taken in front of the wire fence the picture (below) was taken by a gap behind the wire where we can clearly see a beautiful line of bollards tapering away from us.

Behind the wire...

Not often I (@Johnthecabby on the twitter and the vine) get to place a #guestbollard on my own blog but here is one (above) that I actually found while dropping a fare off in Battersea Park.

Found this poster (below) the other day off the Hackney Road 'The Rise of the Nonconformists' and don't we need some nonconforming in society right now.
